Edmund Wascher is Professor for Ergonomics at the Technical University of Dortmund and Scientific Director of the Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors (IfADo) and the head of the Department of Ergonomics. He habilitated at the University of Tuebingen, was a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Medical University of Luebeck, Department of Neurology, in the lab of Prof Dr Rolf Verleger. Further steps in his academic career were associate professor at the Max-Planck-Institute for Psychological Research in Munich, and the head of the Institute for Psychology at the TU Dortmund. Additionally, Prof Wascher is the vice president of the German Society for Psychophysiology and its Applications (DGPA).
Prof Wascher’s main research is in the area of human information processing and how modulating variables like stress, fatigue, age may hinder this processing in work environments. In this context an increasing number of studies demonstrate how mobile EEG technology may help to evaluate workload in real life setting.
